چکیده
Improving tomatoes keeping quality is crucial for reducing post-harvest losses. Knowledge of heterosis, and combining ability a prerequisite breeding high yielding good shelf life heterotic hybrids. Combining Ability Estimates for Yield Some Traits in Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum L.) by Line×Tester
12 single crosses (F1) achieved by combining four testers and three commercial lines of tomato were evaluated for their response to water deficit stress and the combining ability of yield and some yield components. The layout was split plots according to randomized complete block design with three replications and three irrigation levels (FC, 60%FC and 40%FC). Crossing among lines and test...
متن کاملRoot-synthesized cytokinins improve shoot growth and fruit yield in salinized tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) plants
Salinity limits crop productivity, in part by decreasing shoot concentrations of the growth-promoting and senescence-delaying hormones cytokinins. Since constitutive cytokinin overproduction may have pleiotropic effects on plant development, two approaches assessed whether specific root-localized transgenic IPT (a key enzyme for cytokinin biosynthesis) gene expression could substantially improv...
متن کاملHETEROSIS AND QUALITATIVE ATTRIBUTES IN WINTER TOMATO (Solanum lycopersicum L.) HYBRIDS
An investigation was carried out at the Research Farm of Olericulture Division of Horticulture Research Centre of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) to evaluate the heterotic performance in F1 generation of tomato. The hybrids showed significant variation in heterosis. The highest heterobeltiotic effects were observed in the cross P3 x P8 (-18.46%) for earliness, P1 x P6 (8.57 %)...
متن کاملPhenotypic and molecular characterization of a tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) F2 population segregation for improving shelf life.
Breeding for better quality fruits is a major focus for tomatoes, which are continuously subjected to post-harvest losses. Several methods have been used to improve the fruit shelf life of tomatoes, including the use of ripening gene mutants of Solanum lycopersicum. We developed extended shelf-life tomato hybrids with better quality fruits using ripening mutants. Nine tomato crosses were develo...

in order to determine combining ability, heritability and heterosis of some agronomic traits in rice, 4 pure lines were crossed with 2 cytoplasmic male sterile testers. parents and their f1 progenies arranged in rcb design with three replications. analysis of variance showed significant differences among genotypes for all traits, except for filled grains/panicle. furthermore, the crosses effect...
